One of the eighty grand affairs at the TD Halifax Jazz Festival, July 8-16, 2011.
Late Night at the Georgian Lounge* with

This exciting Halifax jazz ensemble is one of the city’s newest additions to the great jazz scene on Canada’s East Coast. Its members collectively form a unique treasure of talent and creativity, and they bring a variety of jazz styles and tunes to the stage. With an emphasis on original works from all mem- bers as well as Staples’ “favorite lifts and grooves” from such artists as John Scofield, Kurt Elling, David Sanchez, Kenny Garrett, Wynton Marsalis, Marc Johnson, Hank Mobley, Sting and more, the septet carries the promise of bringing a freshness to the familiar.
Personnel: Dave Staples (piano, keys), Sean Harris (vocals), Paul Tynan (trumpet, flugelhorn), Chris Mitch- ell (tenor and baritone saxophones), Danny Martin (trombone), Tom Easley (bass) and Tom Roach (drums).
*Hang out with fellow festival goers and performers at the Late Night at the Georgian Lounge, the last festival performance of each night. The
kitchen stays open, the bar is stocked and you never know what will
happen as visiting and local musicians relax and just hang.
